Deer can be a real problem in gardens, especially where properties back onto fields, woodland or open countryside. Roe deer and muntjac are known to browse on young hedges, newly planted shrubs, trees and other garden plants. Often causing damage before they have a chance to become established. If deer regularly find their way into your garden or feed on newly planted areas, temporary electric fencing can provide an effective way of protecting vulnerable planting.
This mobile deer fencing kit is designed for gardens, hedgerows, orchards and other areas that require temporary or relocatable protection. The system combines lightweight deer posts, highly conductive fencing wire and a powerful energiser to create a visible barrier that helps deter deer from entering protected areas.
The fence is built using Gallagher 1.70 m Deer Posts, which have been specifically designed for mobile deer fencing. The posts are lightweight and easy to install, while providing sufficient height for effective deer exclusion. Each post can be fitted with multiple clip wire holders, allowing the fence layout to be adjusted to suit different sites and fencing requirements. Additional clips can be added where required.
For reliable conductivity, this kit includes Gallagher Vidoflex 9. A deer fence should consist of at least four wire lines, although additional wires can be added where extra security is required. Posts are typically positioned up to 4 metres apart, creating a strong and stable fence line while keeping installation straightforward.
For many garden and hedgerow applications, the area requiring protection is often some distance from the nearest power socket. That's why this kit includes the Gallagher S20Li Lithium Solar Energiser. The compact solar unit continuously charges its internal lithium battery, allowing the fence to operate without the need for mains power or frequent battery replacement. This makes it particularly well suited to protecting hedges, young trees, vegetable gardens and newly planted areas where running a power cable would be impractical.
