Gallagher Heavy-Duty Rubber Gate Handle for electric rope and wire gates. Features a non-slip rubber grip, stainless steel core, UV-resistant insulation, and a strong compression spring for reliable performance and long service life on any farm.
Electric gates are inexpensive, efficient, and incredibly simple to install. Select from electric spring gates with high visibility, tape gates, or bungy gates.
The most noticeable gate option is offered by tape gates. When a gate needs to be stretched over a road to direct animals into a pasture, choose spring gates or bungy gates.
Place gates as far away from steep banks as you can so that erosion won't happen there. Use double insulated cable in a pipe to transport the power (and ground return, if you have a ground wire return system) across the gates. This will provide protection and make maintenance easier. To keep out moisture, seal the pipe's ends or bend them downward. Cover the cable or pipe with dirt free of rocks and debris and bury it at least 300mm deep. The cable ends can be joined to the fence with join clamps or a cut off switch.
All Gallagher electric gate kits are wired in such a way that they lose power when they are disconnected. An activator plate on the three-way gate anchor that is provided has to be linked to the electrified fence wires with a piece of cable. The gate strand receives a boost from the activator plate when the gate handle is attached.
You shouldn't rely on electronic gates to cross gateways since electricity is lost to the fence when the gates are open. Additionally, an electric gate's conductor is not made to carry large currents, therefore even when closed, the power will decrease.
