What are electric fence tape insulators?
Tape insulators are special scare wire insulators intended for tape, or tape. Tape insulators ensure that there is no loss of electricity at the fence posts. Because tape insulators are so-called 'dielectric resistant', they prevent loss of electrical energy.
When using electric fence tape for your horses or cattle, it is very important that you choose the right tape insulators. With an electric fence, it is hugely important to coordinate every part of your fence, including your tape and insulators.
What are electric fence tape insulators used for?
Tape insulators are fencing insulators used to attach fence tape to your (often wooden) fence posts. Scare tape insulators should match in size the width of the scare tapes used for your horse fence, cattle fence, sheep fence or electric fence for deterring wildlife.
Tape insulators for horses
In general, all tape insulators are suitable for horses, as tape is a typical product for horse fencing. Suitable tape insulators for horses are therefore TurboLine tape insulators, PowerLine scare tape insulators and the TurboLine tape clips.
Tape insulators for livestock
When you have a mobile electric fence for livestock, you need tape insulators. These TurboLine tape clips attach to the mobile Gallagher Lineposts.
Tape insulators for wildlife

Types of electric fence tape insulators
There are several types of tape insulators, like tape intermediate insulators (also called normal tape insulators) and tape corner insulators. For PowerLine horse tape, there are the Powerline tape insulators and for TurboLine tape, there are the corresponding TurboLine tape insulators.
TurboLine tape insulators
With Gallagher's Turboline tape insulators, you not only install the tape in 1 click, but are also assured of optimal insulation for your tape fence. The TurboLine horse insulator is a beautifully designed tape insulator. With this insulator, you attach tape up to 40 mm to posts in permanent fencing. Fixing the tape is very easy. With one click, you clamp it between 2 rubber parts. This ensures stable fixing of the tape and significantly extends its service life. The supplied screw can be used as an additional securing device. The warranty on the TurboLine horse insulator is 10 years.
How do electric fence tape insulators work?
Fence wire tape insulators are made of hard-wearing, robust plastic, which ensures that the fence tape is efficiently insulated. Due to the perfectly working insulation of the tape insulators, your electric fence is provided with an uninterrupted and loss-free power supply. The various tape insulators are very easy to attach to fence posts using a screw system. A practical snap fastener also makes it easy to snap the scare tape onto the insulator.
Tape fence supplies
This is what you need for your tape fence:
- Normal or intermediate insulators.
- Corner insulators for extra strength in the corners where a lot of force is applied. If necessary, an intermediate plate for connecting to other wires, such as the gate
Corner tape insulator
Turobline corner insulators are specially developed for use in the corners of your fence. More pressure is put on the corner points than on the straight parts of the fence. Corner insulators are therefore specially designed to cope with this pressure and protect the wire from wearing out and shifting.
Intermediate tape insulator
An intermediate insulator is a strong insulator for attaching tape up to 40 mm to intermediate posts in permanent fencing.
Fixing the tape is very easy. With one click, you clamp it between 2 separate rubber parts. This ensures stable fixing of the tape and significantly extends its service life.
In addition, Gallagher has specially designed TurboLine LinePost clips for the LinePost, so that you can easily attach the conductor to the pre-formed positions. The separately available glass-filled nylon clips combine with the Line Post to provide a very strong, durable and reliable attachment of the conductor.
Intermediate plate for electric fence tape
This intermediate plate is ideally suited for the Turboline horse corner tape insulators. With the intermediate plate, you can easily connect different rows of tape by wire. The intermediate plate is very easy to install in your fence. The connection plate is also suitable as a gate handle insulator. The insulator can be rotated 90 degrees for extra ease of use.
Other insulators
Do you want to ensure that, for example, horses do not come up against your existing (wooden) fence? Then use distance insulators. For cord and plastic wire, you have special cord insulators and plastic wire insulators. Use High Tensile insulators for an electric fence of smooth wire or cord.
