The heron is one of UK's largest birds and a protected specie. An adult heron eats up to half a kilo per day. A heron is a wading bird with long legs that prefers to eat fish. They are attracted to ornamental ponds that have bright colored carp and goldfish. Particularly during spring and winter when the fish are sluggish and plant cover is lagging they will appear.
