Protect your pond fauna with electric fence posts

Pond electric fence posts are specially designed posts used to protect ponds from predators such as herons, otters or cats which might be trying to eat your garden wildlife. Especially fish and frogs are especially vulnerable in garden ponds as they have very little space to escape to. For instance if you keep young tadpoles, salamanders and fish in your pond it is important to provide sufficient protection against predators.

Pond electric fence posts provide a safe and effective way to protect ponds from predators, without harming the animals. Pond electric fence posts work by creating a physical barrier around the pond using electric fence wire. When the wire is energised, predators such as herons or cats will receive a shock if they try to cross the barrier, deterring them from approaching the pond. Our posts are easy to install and can be used with a variety of electric fence wires. They are also durable and long-lasting, providing years of protection for your pond. We offer plastic and metal posts with or without a curve. Our curved posts have the advantage that predators struggle getting in between the fence due to its shape.

Tips to take consideration

When selecting pond electric fence posts, it is important to consider the size of your pond and the types of predators you are trying to keep out. The height of the posts and the spacing between them will also be important factors to consider, as well as the type of electric fence wire you plan to use. So we advise to firstly measure the pond circumference, assess the type of animals you are trying to deter and the number of posts you’d need for this set up. An energiser is required to electrify the fence, if you are unsure what type you need, please get in touch with our customer service. They can help you with further tips.

Installing your pond fence posts

The installation of pond electric fence posts will depend on the type of post and wire you are using. If you are using the screw on posts you will need to attach the post to a fence using screws or nails, and then attach the electric fence wire to the post using insulators. If you prefer the ground posts, they can easily be pushed into the ground around the pond. It is in both cases important to ensure that the wire is properly energised and that the posts are spaced at the appropriate distance to create an effective barrier around the pond.
