Most of our infrared heaters are waterproof and based on short-wave and medium-wave infrared quartz technologies, which are the most effective (warmest). They provide instant heat and the most efficient combination of heat vs costs. In addition to general heating applications, short and medium-wave infrared heaters are often used for therapeutic purposes and for drying rooms. These heaters heat any surface their “light” hits, but don’t waste energy heating the air in between.
For more detailed information on the different types of infrared heaters, please see our guide to Different Types of Infrared Lamps.
Please Note: The majority of our infrared heaters have a high IP Rating, which means they are suitable for outdoor or wash-room use, some can even be cleaned by hosing them down! ALL of our heaters can be used indoors, but when making your choice, please check the product description if you need something waterproof.
As a rough quide for outbuilding, workshop and stable use, we recommend a minimum of two 1.2kW or higher rated quartz infrared heaters. In a horse stable stall, the heaters should be mounted laterally on either side of the stall and angled towards the centre of the stall.
