The range of infrared heaters on the market today is quite overwhelming, so we have put together a selection of what we consider to be some of the best. We have tried to include infrared heaters to suit most budgets and applications.
One of the most important things is that all of our infrared heaters are based on short-wave infrared quartz lamps which combine heating efficiency, cost and longevity. Short-wave infared heaters are a great combination of heat and efficiency as they heat the 'body' and not the 'air'. Short-wave infrared heaters are very often used for therapeutic purposes, especially in the equestrian world.
The second most important factor to consider when buying infrared heaters is their environmental 'IP Rating', i.e. how weather-prrof and water-proof they are. We have specifically chosen a range of infrared heaters with IP ratings of IP54, IP55 or IP65 (where IP65 offers the highest level of environmental protection). All of our products can be used outdoors and indoors and IP65 products can even be cleaned by simply spraying down.
As a rough quide, we recommend a minimum of two 1.2kW quartz infrared heater elements per horse stable stall, mounted laterally on either side of the stall and angled towards the centre of the stall. For further information about equestrian uses of infrared heating, please read our new FAQ page: Guide to Equestrian Heating.
