Small Solar Panels (0-20W)
Although considered entry level solar chargers, these small solar panels are well suited to a
wide range of trickle charging and/or battery maintenance applications with any electrical
devices using a 12v battery.
Our range includes both Crystalline and 'amorphous' or 'thin film' non-crystalline panels
that are made using the highest quality silicon cells. If trying to choose between the
two technologies, it may help to consider the tortoise and hare, with the non-crystalline
solar panels (the tortoise in this analogy) producing energy in lower light conditions,
but at a slower peak rate.
It is possible to use low power solar panels without a charge controller as long as the current rating of the solar panel does not exceed 1% of the total capacity of the battery. For example, a panel rated at 0.5A may be used with a 12V battery over 50Ah capacity.

Although generally less efficient than crystaline panels, they are better in low light and therefore particularly well suited to the task of trickle charging and maintaining batteries, as they will provide some charge under almost any lighting conditions.
The solar panels are all tested under actual working conditions and will work effectively in low lighting. Most solar panels will work in conditions such as in the rain, under a cloudy sky and even when covered in snow (up to 7.5cm). These solar panels are tough and versatile, easy to use and expand - an ideal choice for many applications.
