The Steca Solarix PI1100 is designed for use with 24V battery banks for solar energy systems up to 4.4kW. Steca Solarix are True Sine Wave AC / DC inverters, producing a 'pure' stable electricity supply. Their unique modular design allows you to increase the size of the energy system without having to completely replace the inverter.
Parallel connection:
Many people start with a small off-grid solar energy system and slowly add more panels as their electricity demand increases. With a standard inverter system, when the maximum power rating has been reached, it is necessary to buy a brand-new inverter. With the unique Solarix system, you can simply add an additional inverter to increase capacity (via a Steca PAx4 Parallel Switch Box).
When connected, one Solarix units acts as the master and the others as slaves, only switching on when they are required. When load demand exceeds the capacity of the master, the next slave is activated. When the demand falls again, the slaves are switched off again to conserve electricity.
One-button setup:
Setting up an inverter has typically been a rather time-consuming affair, so Steca has introduced an easy to use 'rotary switch'. Simply connect the system together and switch on the lowest power device (e.g. a single low power light) and use the rotary switch to match. Only when the system detects a load demand of or above the minimum will the inverter(s) be activated. When several inverters are connected together, all are controlled via the one switch of the 'master' inverter.
Electronic fuse:
Sometimes things go wrong! A simple mistake can result in accidentally connecting the battery cables the wrong way round, you may inadvertently overload the inverter with a new device is connected or even accidentally connect the inverter system to the mains electricity supply. To protect your system from all of these eventualities, Steca has fitted the Solarix inverters with an electronic fuse system, which can be easily reset at the press of a button.
Solar Charge Control:
To further enhance the performance of your solar energy system, the Steca Solarix inverters can be connected (via a PAx4 Parallel Switch) to a Steca Tarom solar charge controller. Since it is directly connected to the battery, the inverter tells the charge controller how much energy is being taken and the charge controller makes a more accurate calculation of the state of charge (SOC). Should the SOC fall below 30%, the inverters are switched off automatically to prevent 'deep discharge' of the battery bank. When the SOC reaches 50%, the inverters are switched back on again.
