The first of the mid-power Fronius inverters, the IG40 works with systems up to 4.1kW (4100 watts) - e.g. 20 x Kyocera KD185 on-grid solar panels.
The Fronius IG40 and IG60-HV are designed for medium size solar energy systems, working at higher power ranges, yet maximising yields. The IG40 and IG60 incorporate Fronius' MIX concept, which effectively combines two inverters in one in an optimised master-slave system The result of this is a significant increase in yield with a simultaneous reduction in operating hours.
Key Features:
MIX CONCEPT: more power due to two hearts:
MIX stands for the 'Master Inverter X-Change' concept and is the latest development of the master-slave process (MS), initially developed to obtain a higher current yield under part-load. Part-load conditions happen when light levels are low, such as sunrise or sunset, dusk, heavy cloud, etc. The problem for large power modules is that efficiency drops significantly under part-load. The MIX concept solution uses two smaller power circuits to share the work. In part-load the 'master' works alone and as the amount of sunlight increases, the 'slave' is switched on. In addition, the MIX system ensures that the power circuits are used equally, ensuring the highest level of durability and reliability.
INTERACTIVE Informative Display:
To keep you fully up-to-date about your solar energy system, the unique Fronius display is both informative and user-friendly. With an intuitive LED backlit display, important system data is displayed clearly, even in the darkest of basements. Over 20 different parameters can be displayed, including CO2 reduction, output, energy feed in, yield, ambient/module temperatures, plus a wide range of technical information for installers.
HF TRANSFORMER TECHNOLOGY:
To ensure maximum output in minimum space, Fronius have based their power circuits on the high-frequency concept (HF). This makes all Fronius grid-tie inverters incredibly small, light, powerful and above all SAFE, due to their inherent electrical isolation. To reducing switching losses, the HF transformer is combined with a phase-shift process, so producing the best energy yields and maximum system flexibility.
FRONIUS IG MODULE-MANAGER:
There are many different types of solar panel modules on the market and each of them has a different electrical performance. The unique Fronius Module-Manager control software idenitifies the maximum power point (MPP) for the solar panels and reacts changes in sunlight levels to extract the highest energy yield from your solar panel array. In contrast to other grid-tie inverters, Module-Manager means Fronius inverters can also be used with 'thin-film' solar panels.

NOTE: In the UK, whilst you may physically fit solar panels and electrical hardware to your home, it is illegal to connect any system to the mains grid unless you are an MCS certified installer. In order to qualify for the government's 'feed-in tariff', your system must be certified by an MCS installer.
