We offer three main types of AC/DC power inverter:
- Grid-Tie: these are high power inverters designed to manage the output from a solar panel array (often installed on the roof of a house), convert the DC output of the solar panels into an AC supply and then connect to the mains electricity grid.
- True Sine Wave (TSW) Off-Grid: TSW inverters produce a 'pure' and 'clean' AC supply that is very stable and free from surges and spikes. They are often required to power senstive audio/visual equipment and some flourescent lighting systems. Also, some modern appliances (such as washing machines and microwaves) are fitted with a digital timing mechanism; these devices use the AC frequency as their time baseline and therefore a TSW inverter may be required.
- Modified Sine Wave (MSW) Off-Grid: MSW inverters are usually cheaper and don't produce such 'clean' power but are are still more than adequate for most common electrical appliances such as televisions, fax machines, lap-top computers,
power tools, refridgerators, lighting, etc. without cause for concern. If in doubt, please contact us for advice.
The current drain of an inverter is much higher than the rating of most solar charge controllers. Therefore we do not recommend attaching the inverter to the DC load connection of the controller; inverters should be connected directly to the battery terminal(s).
Don't forget, delivery is FREE on all orders over £250 (ex VAT) to most UK mainland destinations.
