Following the implementation of the European Batteries Directive we have introduced this new high quality sealed 70ah 12v leisure battery (same as deep cycle battery) in order to immediately comply with the new European standards of design, testing, labelling, treating and recycling.
The new Rechargeable Sealed Energiser Battery (12v 70ah) reliably performs to the same level as our more expensive, older style 85ah battery, which this leisure battery replaces. It is an ideal choice for electric fence energisers as it will provide power for a reasonable length of time between charges, without being so heavy that you need anything more than a wheelbarrow to move it, as is often the case with larger capacity deep cycle batteries.
The 70ah sealed leisure battery is clean and virtually maintenance free (apart from recharging). This means that the battery is not only suitable for 12v electric fence energisers, but also for any other 12v equipment that requires a clean and easy to use 12v power source for example, this battery is often chosen for use with larger mobility scooters, or Golf Caddies. Particularly where the location is not fixed, such as with 12v fence energisers, this is a leisure battery worth considering.
Please note that the length of operational time provided by this sealed leisure battery will vary depending on the specific power requirements of your fence energiser, but a larger, longer life battery may be to heavy for you to move around. You will also need a suitable mains charger for your battery (see options below), plus if it is important that your fence is rarely without power, it would be worth considering obtaining a smaller spare battery, just to cover periods while this "primary" battery is being recharged. Also have a look at the advantages of adding a solar panel to your electric fence system, depending on your energisers power requirements even a small solar panel can significantly extend the interval between recharges by mains.
