Unfortunately we cannot recommend the use of car batteries as unlike the LS85 Battery, they are not designed to be deeply discharged.
The Hotline LS85 is a new generation sealed 12V 85amp/hr rechargeable lead-oxide battery for use with all Hotline 12V fence energisers. Often refered to as a 'deep cycle' or leisure battery, it is designed specifically to provide optimum performance at a consistant level throughout its charge.
The LS85 12V Battery is designed to last up to 3x longer than standard 12V batteries and includes a built in magic eye charge-level indicator that shows green when charged and red when charging is required.
The battery is sealed for life, making it safe to transport.
NOTE: Shorting-out on the electric fence line through vegetation touching the fence will not effect the life of the battery, only the voltage through the line.
Recommended Options:
- To dramatically extend the recharging interval, either the 6W BatterySAVER SE - Solar Panel, or the 18W BatterySAVER SE - Solar Panel would be suitable for most electric fencing applications.
