We use a number of different "signed for" carriage services, the choice of which is dependant on the size, weight, value and fragility of the items to be shipped. We are willing to accept alternative delivery instructions (i.e. Leave in Garage; or Leave with Neighbour etc.), but any such instruction is made entirely at the customers own risk and we cannot be held responsible for missing items etc. Some carriers will only leave goods with a signatory, so we cannot guarantee that they will comply with requests to do otherwise.
Where delivery is charged, you can find the delivery
charge for the items you intend to order within the shopping basket (accessed by clicking
the CHECKOUT button at the top right of our web pages) before you finalise the order
and process payment. Most UK couriers charge a standard rate for goods delivered to 'standard' UK mainland addresses.
For deliveries outside of this catchment area, they charge a higher rate. Due to this, our system automatically applies a surcharge to some destinations.
Examples of such destinations are:
- Northern Ireland
- Northern Scottish territories, Highlands & Islands
- The Isle of White
- The Channel Isles
Free delivery is offered on most orders over £250 (excluding VAT) to most UK mainland destinations. Some products, such as leisure batteries and AC/DC inverters, are not included in the free delivery offer.
If there is an error in calculating the carriage charge issued, or the standard charges applied by our system are different from the actual charged by the carrier, you
will be contacted before the goods have been despatched and before any payment has been
processed. We do not intentionally profit from carriage services and
simply cover actual shipping and packaging costs incurred. Where the amount charged by our system is significantly more than the amount we are charged by our courier, we will refund the difference.
International orders may require our obtaining specific quotations based on your ordered items
and the specific destination. Once again, as your card is not automatically debited at the time
of ordering the goods, you will be contacted for permission to complete the order if quotations
for carriage differ from the online calculation.
Some products, such as 12V batteries, are extremely heavy or hazardous and therefore a supplement is charged to cover the additional charges made by the couriers for delivering such heavy items.
