Raised Pond Fence Project

Raised Pond Electric Fence Project

Here is a series of photographs kindly supplied by a customer (Mike) who was relocating and extending his 30ft x 20ft raised garden pond. Concerned about otters raiding, following their success at the gardens original site, Mike chose to incorporate an electric fence.

Following the install, we are happy to report no fatalities, plus we're sure you'll agree, the pond still looks good!

The fence has be produced using 4 lines of Green Polywire, with Adjustable Insulators to fix the polywire to Plain Metal Fence Posts. The plain metal fence posts have been adapted to suit the application, having first been cut down using a hacksaw and then bent to the required angle (by hand) before being cemented in place.

Components pictured in the above two photographs are:

Connections made using Bolt Joint Clamps

HT/G Cable used to join live lines together - Notice 1 line bypassed to create Earth Line

Three of the four fence lines are live - joined together using HT/G Insulated Cable. The remaining line (2nd line down), is connected only to an earth spike in order to ensure the Otter receives a shock if it leaps onto the fence.

Fence lines tensioned using P19 Tensioners P19 Tensioners

Any sagging is taken care of using In-Line Tensioners.
