Answers:

  1. Can the isun drain my batteries at night?:

NO. The isun has a built-in diode for reverse current protection

    Back to Questions:

  2. Can my isun be left outdoors without a protective covering?

Although the isun is water resistant it is not entirely waterproof, thus it cannot be left out in wet, rainy or snowy conditions without a protective covering.

    Back to Questions:

  3. What happens if I use the wrong polarity?

No charging will occur if the incorrect polarity is used.

    Back to Questions:

  4. Why doesn't the LED light up on my iSun?

The LED indicates that your unit is receiving daylight exposure. If it is not lit, it may mean that you are not exposing the unit to enough daylight. Please position the solar panel to maximize its exposure to the sun.

    Back to Questions:

  5. What type of batteries can I charge?

The BattPak has been designed to charge AA or AAA rechargeable batteries, NiMH or Ni-Cd. Use only rechargeable batteries with the BattPak. Other types of batteries, if used, may cause personal injury and damage.

    Back to Questions:

  6. Why does the charger’s green LED light up with one battery?

Although the charge light does appear with one battery, it does not indicate charging. The BattPak has been designed to operate with a minimum of 2 batteries.

    Back to Questions:

  7. How do I use the BattPak as a power source?

Since electronic devices differ, we recommend placing batteries in the BattPak until the unit begins charging or operating.

    Back to Questions:

  8. How long will it take to charge my batteries?

The total charge time will depend on the following factors: type of rechargeable battery, the state of discharge of batteries, number of batteries to charge and power source used to charge. Consult the 'Average Charging Times' chart on the bottom of the unit for estimated times.

    Back to Questions:

  9. Why does it take less time to charge 10 batteries versus 2 batteries when using an AC outlet as a power source?

The BattPak has been optimised for charging 8 to 10 batteries. Its innovative and versatile design permits you to charge different numbers of batteries without increasing the required charging time. This is also true when using the iSun solar charger or a 12V DC input with 2 or more batteries.

    Back to Questions:

  10. Can I use the BattPak with the iSun set to the 6V position to charge my batteries? The instructions say to set the iSun at 12V when charging my batteries.

If charging 2 or 3 batteries, you can set the iSun to the 6V position. This will cut the charging time in half. However, if charging more than 3 batteries with the iSun as a power source, the iSun should be set to the 12V position.

    Back to Questions:

  11. Can I power my appliance with the BattPak while I charge the batteries?

No, you must first remove the power input (iSun, AC or DC input) before using the BattPak as a power source for your devices.

    Back to Questions:

  12. Can I charge my NiMH batteries and Ni-Cd batteries together? How about charging AA and AAA batteries at the same time?

No, NiMH and Ni-Cd batteries should not be charged together in the BattPak. Nor should you charge AA and AAA batteries at the same time. When charging your batteries with the BattPak, you should always make sure they are all of the same type, size, capacity and state of charge.

    Back to Questions:

  13. Can I charge more than one battery at a time with the iSun?

Yes. For example, the charge can be applied to a bank of small AA batteries. When connected to a bank of 2 or more batteries, the total charging current will be shared by the batteries. The larger the number of batteries, the longer it will take to recharge the battery bank. Please note that when you charge multiple batteries, all batteries should be of similar type, capacity, condition and state of charge so that they will be charged evenly.

For charging AA or AAA batteries however, we recommend the use of the BattPak accessory for the iSun. The BattPak’s innovative and versatile design permits you to charge different numbers of batteries (2 to 10 batteries), without increasing the required charging time when adding additional batteries.

    Back to Questions:

  14. What do I do if none of the plugs work for my appliance?

The range of adaptors supplied with the iSun cover the majority of standard connections in the marketplace. If you wish to connect a device and can't find a plug then Email us here with complete details and we will attempt to source one for you.
